It is said that South Cotswolds is a bit prettier than the North, with more to see and even better options to stay overnight. If this is true or not, I can’t personally confirm, since I live in the North Cotswolds and absolutely love it here.
However, we decided to come with a list for both areas, the South and the North of Cotswolds for boutique hotel recommendations!

Whether you’re in the Cotswolds on a business trip or if it’s a romantic trip or just a weekend adventure, Calcot &Spa Hotel should not be missed! It’s luxurious & relaxing, family-friendly, and also in the perfect location to visit around!

There are Tetbury Woolsack Races to see or get enchanted one evening during the Enchanted Christmas at Westonbirt Arboretum. You might want to pack a pair of boots and your Barbour, of course. Even pets are spoiled around here with their Barbour coats so you better fit in!
When in your room, enjoy the softest linens and stunning traditional yet modern design, with ceiling beams, so your Cotswolds experience is complete. This hotel is particularly loved by couples! Let’s stick in Tetbury with another wonderful option! You get to have a cozy experience surrounded by woodland, and locally sourced meals at the Westonbirt Restaurant.
Hare and Hounds Hotel in Tetbury is located in the second largest town in the Cotswolds, so you have plenty of shops around!
Some local attractions in Tetbury are Tetbury Goods Shed, Royal Gardens at Highgrove House, and the Westonbirt Arboretum. Highgrove House is the countryside residence of The Prince of Wales so you’re basically neighboring royalty. The Westonbirt Arboretum is famous for its beauty particularly in Autumn, so maybe you could book your stay here that season!

Painswick village is named the “Queen of the Cotswolds” so a trip here would be nothing short of fabulous.
When the location is everything for Instagram nowadays, The Painswick Hotel is the perfect spot to book. Everything homemade, everything luxurious, landscape lush, and body recharged.
Local attractions in Painswick are taking a stroll through the yew tree-filled graveyard at St Mary’s Church, Painswick Rococo Garden, and walking in the footsteps of The Casual Vacancy Film by JK ROWLING. It is also driving distance to Strouf Farmers’ Market which is a truly lovely experience in the Cotswolds.

If you’re planning a trip to Chippenham, our recommendation is Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa. You get to enjoy a Michelin-starred restaurant and acres of land with horses. You can do horse riding, of course, You can also enjoy their tennis courts, croquet lawn, and a football pitch.
Part of the hotel’s facilities are Spa, gym, personal trainers, fitness classes, children’s playhouse, so it’s very family-friendly. If you love enjoying a pool when traveling, there’s an indoor heated pool, an indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool, and an outdoor saltwater plunge pool. I believe you have quite a few choices to make whilst here.
Children are allowed in the heated indoor pool during certain times only, for obvious reasons. Even babysitting can be arranged with a local nanny if booked in advance, at £40/h.
For an additional fee, you can bring up to two dogs in particular rooms.
Local attractions near Chippenham are Castle Coombe Race Track, St Anne church Bowden Hill, Bowood House, and Gardens.
